Well folks, Brandi has done it again. Drinking and Dating was just as hilarious (and simultaneously reassuring and inspirational) as her first novel, Drinking and Tweeting. In fact, like Brandi herself, I too enjoyed taking a step away from discussing her ex-husband and the impact the divorce had on her life. Don’t get me wrong, reading Drinking and Tweeting strengthened my respect for Brandi – getting deeper insight into what she went through was heartbreaking, but so inspirational at the same time. I am so thankful that Brandi’s life became public. It may have its downfalls, but she is such an inspiration to all women out there who have struggled with douche-bag men. Not to mention, her honesty and commitment to being real is so refreshing. It makes her so easy to relate to.Brandi definitely didn’t hold back or shy away from being honest and upfront with her fans in Drinking and Dating. She says that she is always honest – sometimes to a fault – and that held true. She was unafraid to spill the details of her dating life with her fans so that we could learn from the (many) mistakes she made. But her confidence in being completely honest with us makes her story that much more appealing and hilarious. Brandi has a sense of humor about herself and will fully own up to her mistakes, which makes it so much more welcome for us to laugh along with her. And let’s face it: many of us have made the same mistakes, so it allows us to laugh as we acknowledge the fact that we’re not alone.And that’s a gift Brandi has: she makes all her fans feel important and less lonely, simply by being her real, honest-to-God self. She shows us her flaws, talks openly about her life and her mistakes, and doesn’t hold back her opinions. She gets crazy sometimes (as we all do) and says inappropriate (in the best way!) things, and we cannot help but love her for it. I have a damn good feeling that if I ever had the opportunity to meet Brandi in person we would become close friends. And I’m sure many of her fans feel that way. Because she treats us like friends by letting us be a part of her life and experience her journey – the good and the bad – along with her.Life is about being real and owning your mistakes. Live (be real, even if it means being inappropriate or crazy) and learn (by owning your mistakes you help yourself grow and help yourself move on) and things will work out okay. If Brandi can get through what she has, so can we!Her story of her dating history is absolutely hilarious and interesting and refreshingly honest. I don’t want to give anything away. But I can tell you this: whether you are a long-time fan of Brandi’s or you have never even heard of her, you’ll enjoy this book.
